چکیده
We perform a study of gravitational waves emitted by inspiraling black holes in the context quadratic gravity. By linearizing field equations around flat background, we demonstrate that all degrees freedom satisfy wavelike equations. These split into three modes: massive spin-2 mode, spin-0 and expected massless mode. construct energy-momentum tensor show that, due to it presents Ostrogradsky instability. also how deal with this possible pathology obtain consistent physical interpretations for system. Gravitational waves from inspiraling binary black holes
Binary black holes are the most promising candidate sources for the first generation of earth-based interferometric gravitational-wave detectors. We summarize and discuss the state-of-the-art analytic techniques developed during the last years to better describe the late dynamical evolution of binary black holes of comparable masses. متن کاملProbing strong-field gravity and black holes with gravitational waves
Gravitational wave observations will be excellent tools for making precise measurements of processes that occur in very strong-field regions of spacetime. Extreme mass ratio systems, formed by the capture of a stellar mass body compact by a massive black hole, will be targets for planned space-based interferometers such as LISA and DECIGO. These systems will be especially powerful tools for tes...
متن کاملGravitational waves versus black holes
It is argued that, in order for the gravitational field to be propagated as a wave, it is necessary for it to satisfy a further set of field equations, in addition to those of Einstein and Hilbert, and these equations mean there is a preferred coordinate frame, called the Global Inertial Frame, giving rise to a unique metric . The implication is that a true gravitational field is not compatible...
متن کاملGravitational waves from intermediate-mass black holes in young clusters
Massive young clusters (YCs) are expected to host intermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs) born via runaway collapse. These IMBHs are likely in binaries and can undergo mergers with other compact objects, such as stellar mass black holes (BHs) and neutron stars (NSs). We derive the frequency of such mergers starting from information available in the Local Universe. Mergers of IMBH-NS and IMBHBH bi...
متن کاملA burst search for gravitational waves from binary black holes
Compact binary coalescence (CBC) is one of the most promising sources of gravitational waves. These sources are usually searched for with matched filters which require accurate calculation of the GW waveforms and generation of large template banks. We present a complementary search technique based on algorithms used in un-modeled searches. Initially designed for detection of un-modeled bursts, ...
